Three for the Hebrew Children
Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 05:30AM Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah--better known by their Babylonian names of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego--were three friends of the young prophet Daniel, who stood up to Nebuchadnezzar--or more accurately, stood up for God--just as Daniel did. They are the "Hebrew children" meant in the song "Children, Go Where I Send Thee".
Their story is quaintly told by the late, great Louis Armstrong in the video below. One major point is left out of this musical version of the Bible story. Listen and see if you can tell me what is missing from Mr. Armstrong's retelling of the story from the third chapter of the Book of Daniel.
